About Neshama Hospice
Neshama Hospice will be the first hospice residence in Canada built on Jewish values and open to all. It will be the first hospice residence in North York, one of Toronto’s largest communities. Built in the heart of North York, we are creating a sanctuary where the deepest human values—lovingkindness, dignity, and community—transform the final chapter of life from an ending into a supported journey that wraps around every resident and their loved ones.
We are a registered charity, and our charitable registration number is: 7659 13892RR0001.
Our journey started in 2014, when a dedicated and diverse team of physicians, social workers, community care and clergy professionals, all with extensive experience in the field of palliative care, came together to form Neshama Hospice. Since then, we’ve welcomed development professionals, architects, archivists, builders, and we are building an interprofessional community of care supported by dedicated volunteers.

Why is Neshama Hospice fundraising?
Construction for Neshama Hospice is funded through substantial philanthropy from Toronto's Jewish community, along with others dedicated to Neshama’s vision, mission and values, with support from the Ontario Ministry of Health.
While government funding covers approximately 50% of hospice operations in Ontario, the remaining costs must be raised through community support. Donations ensure we can establish and operate, providing exceptional and comprehensive care and support in a home-like environment at no cost to families.
